MOTORECORD in Guinness World Records Book 2010

It was published in more than 100 countries and 25 languages and distributed annually to more than 3 million people around the globe. A international team led by Roland Hess – Chile /Switzerland, German Hess - Chile/Switzerland; Johann Janko -Chile/Austria and Giovanni Sanguedolce - Argentina/Italy had officially broken a six year old record set by a Chinese group, who rode up to 6113 m of Mt Everest on the13 May 2002. The Team was trained by Valerio Pastorino (Trial) and Oscar Commentz (Mountaineering), with the valuable support of Swiss Embassy and the collaboration from Honda Motors Chile, GPS Aventura, Club de Planeadores de Santiago, Moto Technik, Trust Line, Aventurismo and his guides Mario Sepulveda, Sebastian Martinez, Maximiliano Martinez and Victor Martinez. An special thank to the Latinoamerican Trial Multichampion Cesar Ramos and HRC CEO Sergio Baracatt who deliver us the Honda 4RT Motorcycles.
 

The achievement appear (with pictures) in the annual Guinness World Records book from 2010 (on page 96). The record imply for “the highest altitude reached by a motorcycle”.

The volcano “Ojos del Salado” is located 1.100 Kms in the desert of Atacama at the North from Santiago, Capitol of Chile in the frontier of Chile and Argentina. It is the highest volcano in the world with 6.895 meters.

The expeditionary team and their motorcycles should support the extreme conditions – of to temperatures down to -15º C, sparce oxygen and winds in occasion of obout ab100 Km/h.
The expedition was followed by two independent witness demanded by the Guinness World Record institution that was taken according to the guidelines and the established norms of Environmental Protection. To sum up the challenge, is to combine the sports of high mountain with the sports of extreme motorcycling and team work.
